Jarrow FC looking for a reaction after dropping points in promotion race
Kennie Malia wants to see Jarrow get back to winning ways on home turf after Saturday’s 1-1 draw - full story in Monday’s Shields Gazette.
Kennie Malia challenged Jarrow to maintain their focus in the aftermath of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Grangetown Boys Club.
Stephen Siyanbola gave Jarrow a first-half lead at the BW Lifting Stadium before Kieran Stares equalised for the home side midway through the second half.
It leaves the South Tyneside outfit sitting third in the Northern League Division Two table, five points behind leaders Billingham Town and two points behind neighbours Boldon CA, who have a game in hand.

Malia’s men now return to Perth Green as they prepare to host FC Hartlepool next Saturday afternoon, and they head into that game looking to extend a 25-game unbeaten run on their home patch across this season and last.
That record remains important to the Jarrow boss - although he warned his players they must remain strong home and away if they are to secure promotion into Division One.
He told The Gazette: “The home record is huge for us this season because we wanted to make Perth Green a fortress and that’s the aim next weekend. Any team that is successful are always strong at home - although if you want to be at the top end we know that you have to be strong at home and away.
“We are still disappointed with the draws we’ve had this season and at least two of them, we feel should have been converted into wins. But we just need to keep focusing on picking up points, taking it one game at a time and not getting carried away because if we do that, we should be alright.”
