Liam Murray delivers Hebburn Town FC pledge ahead of Macclesfield and Chester clashes
High-flying Hebburn Town face National League North rivals Macclesfield and Chester over the next week.
Hebburn Town FC believe they can continue making an impact in the National League North - according to winger Liam Murray.
The Hornets moved to the top of the table with an impressive home win against King’s Lynn Town on Saturday as Jake Charles, Ethan Wood, Josh Donaldson and Murray all found the net to overturn a half-time deficit and hand their side yet another three points.

The win also means Daniel Moore’s men will head into a challenging week looking to stretch their unbeaten run to a sixth and seventh game as they prepare for two difficult fixtures. Monday’s visit to former Northern Premier League rivals Macclesfield is followed by a home clash with Chester next weekend as the Hornets face two sides sitting alongside them in the top three of the table.
Murray, who has taken to life in the second tier of the non-league in impressive fashion, believes his side must remain focused and urged them to recover well as they prepare for Monday’s trip to Macclesfield.
He told The Echo: “It’s not easy, far from it, it’s the total opposite - but I think it’s about believing in yourself and as a squad, we are and we know what we can do. We think we can make a name for ourselves in this league and we believe we can compete with anyone. We just have to take each game as it comes and if you can’t win and get three points, you make sure you don’t lose and we can see where that takes us. The games come thick and fast, you’re playing full-time outfits and we just have to recover well and go again.”
South Shields will return to action with a home game against former FA Cup opponents Spalding United on Monday. The Mariners made the long trip to Brackley Town on Saturday but were left frustrated as the fixture was abandoned during the first-half after heavy and persistent rain was deemed to have left the St James Park pitch unplayable.
The abandonment means captain Robbie Tinkler will now serve his one-match ban on Monday afternoon.
