Newcastle United takeover key player Mehrdad Ghodoussi may be waiting patiently for deal progress with the Premier League – but that hasn’t stopped him getting emotional about progress on the field.

The Magpies netted a 95th minute equaliser at Anfield as they held Premier League champions Liverpool for the second time this campaign. The result stretched United’s lead from the bottom three back to nine points – and Ghodoussi, of PCP Capital Partners, could not hide his delight.

He tweeted: “Unbelievable, what a finish.”
