Manchester United linked with £75m deadline day swoop - but Newcastle United have already responded
Newcastle United transfers: Lewis Hall has once again been linked with a move to Manchester United.
Manchester United are reportedly still looking to sign Lewis Hall from Newcastle United before the summer transfer deadline.
That’s according to a report from the Daily Mail, who claim a bid in excess of £75million would be required to even tempt Newcastle into considering a move. As such, a deal is unlikely.
But the Red Devils have been in the market for a new left-back this summer, and Hall was identified as a top target.

But as reported by The Gazette last month, Newcastle have no intention of selling Hall this transfer window. Club sources also insisted that Hall would not be leaving, with a new contract at St James’ Park mooted.
It came after the club had already sanctioned the departures of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.
Hall has been a key player at Newcastle since making his initial loan move from Chelsea permanent and has established himself as one of the best young left-backs in the Premier League. The 21-year-old remains highly rated by Matthias Jaissle, who also poured cold water on the Manchester United links on live television.
Speaking after Newcastle’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool at St James’ Park, Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel teased Jaissle that his former club were looking to sign Hall.

But Jaissle was quick to respond with a strong two-word shutdown as he smirked: “No chance.”
The new Newcastle head coach was echoing the noise that has been coming out of the club all summer. Although Man United’s interest is genuine, which is to be expected given Hall’s quality and potential, he is one of Newcastle’s most highly-rated players and it is hoped he will remain at St James’ Park for years to come.
