Newcastle United are believed to be weighing up a free agent swoop for two-time Premier League winner Leroy Sane.
The former Manchester City winger is currently in the final year of his contract at Bayern Munich and faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena after falling down the pecking order following the summer arrival of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

Hide AdGerman newspaper Bild explains that Bayern Munich and Sane have held talks over signing a contract extension, but explains that one key stumbling block continues to prolong negotiations between the 28-year-old and Vincent Kompany’s side.
Sane is currently one of Bayern Munich’s highest earners but the 33-time champions only want the winger to stay if he is willing to take a pay cut. This news has reportedly not gone down well with Sane, who has played a key role in helping his side win three of the last four Bundesliga titles.
Reports from both Caught Offside and Football Insider understand Newcastle are ‘ready to pounce’ on Sane amid the uncertainty. The Magpies are yet to sign a right sided winger since their takeover three years ago and are keen to bolster their pre-existing attacking options of Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy.
Newcastle are not alone in their pursuit of the former PFA Young Player of the Year and Spanish outlet Sport also understands that La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are ‘fully informed’ and ‘attentive’ to the situation if the winger does not sign an extension with Bayern Munich.

Bild reporter Christian Falk claims Sane would consider a move to the Premier League but claims that Newcastle’s chances of signing him would likely depend on whether they can secure qualification for this season’s Champions League.
He said: “Whether Newcastle can be considered serious suitors for Sane will depend on how they perform in the Premier League. I think Sane will only consider clubs playing in the Champions League.”
