Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce hints at system switch after toothless frontline draw Premier League blank

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce admits he is pondering a formation switch – but is reluctant to do so having been burnt in the past.

After watching his side struggle to create in a home bore draw against bottom of the Premier League Norwich City, Bruce revealed he is keen to change his system, but fears doing so after results after switches earlier this season.

"We must offer more on the counter attack. That has been missing in the last few weeks,” he said.

“We haven't caused teams enough problems.”

Bruce continued: "It is something I will do eventually (formation change).

“I've changed us three times this year and we've been badly beaten so it's that balance. I think they're comfortable with the way we play, certainly defensively, but we've got to offer more up the pitch."

United play Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium in the FA Cup on Tuesday night.
