Newcastle United launch injury inquest as yet another player ruled out due to injury

Newcastle United were without nine players due to injury against Hull City on Saturday.

Matthias Jaissle expressed his concern after yet another Newcastle United player was ruled out due to injury.

Tino Livramento missed Saturday’s 2-1 win over Hull City due to an injury picked up in training and has had an MRI scan. The problem could keep him out of the upcoming England squad after he was called up by Thomas Tuchel.

The full-back made it nine absentees for Jaissle’s side against the Tigers on Saturday. Dan Burn, Joelinton, William Osula, Ewen Jaouen, Nico Gonzalez, Amar Dedic, Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey also missed the game due to injury.

And Jaissle will be hoping the three-week international break will give his depleted squad time to recover when they return to action at Coventry City.

But for now, the sheer volume of injuries is a concern that Newcastle are looking to get to the bottom of.

“It's a concern for me as a coach, definitely, it's a concern,” Jaissle admitted. “We will start already from tomorrow morning to reflect on that, and hopefully after the break we have some of that back.”

Providing an update on Livramento, Jaissle said: “Yeah, he suffered some discomfort in the morning from [Friday’s] training, so at the moment we should have the results already from the MRI, but nothing for now from my side.

“We all hope really much that after the break we see at least one or two [injured players back].”
