Newcastle United loanee to miss Champions League clash as club confirm injury blow

Feyenoord have confirmed that Yankuba Minteh will miss ‘several weeks’ of action after suffering a ‘muscle injury’ during their victory over Vitesse at the weekend. Minteh started their 4-0 triumph, but was withdrawn fifteen minutes from time due to injury.

And his club have confirmed that he will miss their next few games, including a Champions League double-header against Lazio. An update posted by Feyenoord read: ‘Yankuba Minteh will not be able to play for several weeks. The 19-year-old attacker suffered a muscle injury in the league match against Vitesse last Saturday.

‘Minteh had to be substituted fifteen minutes before time due to the injury. The Gambian international, who is on loan from Newcastle United this season, has so far played twelve official matches for Feyenoord in which he scored three times.’

Minteh, who doesn’t turn 20 until July, has impressed since moving to the Netherlands and registered three goals and one assist thus far in the Eredivisie.
