Matthias Jaissle teases major Newcastle United training ground update - £98m boost
Newcastle United are hoping for a double injury boost as they prepare for the Premier League trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Newcastle United hope to have Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey back in training this week.
The pair, who joined the Magpies last summer from Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, respectively, for a combined £98million, haven’t featured since the Carabao Cup third round win at Millwall on September 8.
Elanga was left out of the matchday squad for the following match at Leeds United, which ended in a 4-1 defeat, while Ramsey was an unused substitute after feeling his groin in the warm-up.

Elanga had started all three of Newcastle’s Premier League matches up until that point and found the net against both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, while Ramsey looked to be coming into form after scoring a late equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.
Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle has been without the duo for the past five weeks but hopes to have them back in training this week.
The Magpies travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday but may have to wait until next Thursday’s Carabao Cup visit to Everton before welcoming the pair back into the matchday squad, with Jaissle keen not to rush either player.
Meanwhile, Tino Livramento remains sidelined but is expected to return “in the next weeks”.
“Unfortunately, Anthony’s [been] out for many, many weeks and now it's the process of bringing him back slowly but surely in a smart way, so we are not too much in a hurry,” said Jaissle.
“Hopefully next week he's about to train again with the group, at least partially, and then we need to reintegrate him again step by step. But we miss him a lot. I can't wait to have him back in the squad.
“With Tino, we need to be also cautious and paying attention that it's nothing where we hurry up, as you know about his injury situation and history in the past.
“But we are optimistic that also in the next weeks we will bring him back, but slowly and step by step.
“With JJ, I think it's a bit different. He's making progress now much more, a little bit like Anthony, hopefully also next week he can join in partially in the training and then we build it from there.”
