The Magpies head coach confirmed there was no fresh injury news to report, which means Callum Wilson, Fabian Schar, Javier Manquillo and Federico Fernandez remain sidelined, though Bruce did provide a positive update on the latter two.
Bruce said: “Thankfully, we’ve not got any new injuries ahead of the weekend.
"Federico Fernandez trained yesterday and the day before but Sunday will be too soon for him. We’re hoping he’ll be ready for Wolves.”
He added: “The one who looks better is Manquillo, he twisted his ankle badly, but has responded very well to treatment.”
So, who will get the nod for the Premier League clash at Old Trafford?
Flick through our gallery as we predicted Bruce’s line-up – which includes a somewhat controversial change:
1. Karl Darlow
Is it time to recall Martin Dubravka? Steve Bruce has said nothing to suggest he will as Darlow looks set to start his 25th consecutive league start. Photo: Mike Hewitt
2. Isaac Hayden
Hayden into right-back? It wouldn’t be a surprise given Emil Krafth’s first-half showing against Chelsea… Photo: Stu Forster
3. Jamaal Lascelles
Newcastle need their captain to lead by example. He has his critics but he rarely shies away. Photo: Pool
4. Ciaran Clark
With Federico Fernandez and Fabian Schar out injured, Clark and Lascelles are the club’s only fit central defenders. Photo: ALEX PANTLING
