The report claims it could well be weeks rather than months when six-goal Wilson returns to availability.

Wilson has been added to a lengthening injury list at Benton with Ryan Fraser set to miss Scotland’s internationals this week through injury.

Martin Dubravka, Jonjo Shelvey, Dwight Gayle and Matt Ritchie are long-term absentees.

Meanwhile, former United defender Daryl Janmaat has started a trial period in his homeland at ADO Den Haag.
