Ross Wilson has just addressed two-year Newcastle United transfer search with a club-record U21 signing
Newcastle United transfers: The Magpies believe they have unearthed a rare find in 20-year-old winger Bazoumana Toure.
Newcastle United have completed the £43million transfer of Bazoumana Toure from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
The transfer represents the biggest fee Newcastle have paid for a player under the age of 21, with the 20-year-old looking to make an immediate impact in the Premier League after a breakthrough season in Germany.
Toure arrives following Anthony Gordon's departure, giving Newcastle another option on the left wing to compete with Harvey Barnes. The Magpies have tracked the youngster since his time at Swedish side Hammarby before his move to Hoffenheim in January 2025.

A key addition for NUFC
His pace and dribbling ability were among the key attributes that attracted Newcastle to the player, but there is one particular selling point that may have proved just as important.
While Toure has predominantly played on the left wing throughout his career, the fact he is naturally left-footed makes him something of a rarity - at least as far as Newcastle are concerned.
For much of Eddie Howe's reign, Newcastle have relied on inverted wingers on the left. Gordon, Barnes and Allan Saint-Maximin all preferred cutting inside onto their stronger right foot, while the club have been without a naturally left-footed attacking player since Miguel Almiron's £10million departure in early 2025. They were also forced to sell another, Yankuba Minteh, to Brighton for £33million to comply with PSR without the young winger playing a match.
It is an area Newcastle have been looking to address ever since.
That was evidenced by the club's pursuits of Bryan Mbeumo and Michael Olise, two naturally left-footed attackers capable of playing on the right. But once Manchester United and Bayern Munich entered the race respectively, Newcastle were simply unable to compete for their signatures.
As a result, the pursuit of a left-footed attacker was put on hold as the club focused on strengthening a squad preparing for life after Alexander Isak.
A change in transfer strategy
But a change in transfer strategy this summer, the first under sporting director Ross Wilson, has seen Newcastle place a greater emphasis on signing younger players with high ceilings while generating significant funds through the sales of established stars.
It is a bold approach from a club undergoing something of a transition after finishing 12th in the Premier League and missing out on European football. But it is one Newcastle believe can provide stronger long-term foundations, provided the recruitment proves successful.
After missing out on Victor Munoz, Newcastle have instead opted for a more traditional left-footed winger. Toure may not have been the club's first choice, but his arrival ticks a significant box for the recruitment team as they continue reshaping Howe's squad.
At just 20 years old, he arrives with plenty of development still ahead of him, but also with a profile Newcastle have been trying to add to their attack for the best part of two years.
