Newcastle United transfer target 'prioritising' Premier League move amid Bruno Guimaraes links
Newcastle United are hoping to add further new faces to their squad during the remainder of the summer transfer window.
Newcastle United have been handed a boost in their bid to further strengthen their midfielder options.
The future of club captain Bruno Guimaraes continues to dominate the headlines as Premier League champions Arsenal continue with their attempts to lure the former Lyon star to the Emirates Stadium. Magpies manager Eddie Howe was asked about the situation in the aftermath of Saturday’s pre-season friendly draw at Gateshead - and he admitted he was unsure what could lie ahead.

He said: "I've had some really good conversations with him before the World Cup, during the World Cup and after the World Cup. What we speak about has to remain private, but he's just a great player, a great person. I don't know what's going to happen with Bruno's future. That's for other people to speculate about. They are conversations that I'm not part of.
“You've got to look at it in its own right. Bruno is the captain of our football club. He's been an unbelievable player and person all through the time we have worked together. I speak on behalf of everyone at the football club. We absolutely love him and, of course, everyone will want him to stay."
The Magpies have already added to their midfield options with the signings of Ajax youngster Sean Steur and Monaco star Aladji Bamba - but there is a feeling another midfielder will be brought in if Arsenal are able to meet the Magpies demands for Guimaraes. Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo has been one name linked with a move to St James Park in recent weeks after he impressed for Brazilian club Botafogo over the last season with ten goals and three assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.
The eight-times capped Brazil international has also been linked with a move to Botafogo’s league rivals Palmerias over the last month - but Brazilian news outlet UOL has claimed the player’s agents are ‘prioritising’ a move back to the Premier League and will shun interest from his home country and Russian club Zenit. Newcastle are said to have already made an enquiry for the midfielder and suggests Botafogo could demand a fee of around £24m for the former Forest man.
