The Magpies’ expensively assembled frontline has contributed just one goal this season – Joelinton’s strike against Tottenham Hotspur.

And as a result, that record has seen calls for a strengthening of the pack in January.

Pundit Stan Collymore, in his Mirror column, claims United could do no wrong in firming up their Bowen interest as he believes the form of the Hull City forward should pique the interest of the Premier League big boys.

He said: “Jarrod Bowen is a shoo-in for a move to the Premier League in January.

“He’s the Championship’s second highest scorer with 11 goals for Hull, has 23 in 2019, way more than rivals, is just 22 and has it all ahead of him.

“I loved proving myself at Southend down the divisions. I looked in the mirror and said it was all on me and 18 goals later I ended up at Forest and then Liverpool in a couple of years.

“I look at Bowen in the Championship and think he can do what the likes of Jamie Vardy and Tammy Abraham have done, score goals in the second tier and then make an impact at the top.

“If I’m any club in the Premier League – including Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea – take him, see what he is like in training. If it doesn’t work, loan him out.

“Or if I’m Newcastle, Brighton or Watford, throw him straight in. Good luck to the lad.”
