The Magpies have a busy run of matches coming up with Premier League clashes against Burnley and Sunderland either side of the midweek Champions League trip to Bayer Leverkusen. After Sunderland, Newcastle host Fulham at St James’ Park in the Carabao Cup quarter-final before a home match against Chelsea in the Premier League.

After Christmas, Newcastle travel to Manchester United on Boxing Day before facing Burnley for the second time in December in their final match of 2025.

By that point, Eddie Howe will hope to have all of his currently injured players back and available to play.

Here is the current Newcastle United injury list...

Sandro Tonali

Tonali was forced off at half-time with a dead leg during the 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night.

He has since been for a scan and is a doubt for Saturday’s match against Burnley though Howe claimed he would give the midfielder ‘every chance’ to be fit and available for the game, suggesting the issue is only short-term.

Expected return date: 06/12 - Burnley (H)

Yoane Wissa

Wissa is yet to make his Newcastle United debut, over three months since joining the club for £55million. A knee injury suffered on international duty days after his arrival on Tyneside has stopped him from playing and even training until recently.

But after getting through two practice matches this past week, the forward is understood to be close to a return.

Expected return date: 06/12 - Burnley (H)

Sven Botman

Botman has missed Newcastle’s last two matches with a back injury but has since received an injection to speed up his recovery. The defender is likely to miss the next two matches but has an outside chance of being available for the derby game against Sunderland.

Expected return date: 14/12 - Sunderland (A)

Emil Krafth

Krafth picked up a knee injury during the international break and hasn’t been involved in a matchday squad since. Despite travelling and training in Marseille last week, the right-back was omitted from the squad and is expected to remain out for the next few games.

Expected return: 20/12 - Chelsea (H)

Nick Pope

Pope has missed Newcastle’s last two matches after suffering a groin injury in training last week. It came amid growing pressure on Howe to drop the goalkeeper and bring Aaron Ramsdale into the side.

Having received the results of a scan, Pope is expected to remain on the sidelines until around Christmas.

Expected return: 26/12 - Manchester United (A)

Kieran Trippier

Trippier suffered a hamstring injury during the November international break and hasn’t been seen since. Fortunately for Newcastle, his injury coincided with the return of Tino Livramento who has been able to come straight into the side at right-back.

Trippier’s injury is expected to keep him out until around Christmas.

Expected return: 26/12 - Manchester United (A)

William Osula

Osula has missed Newcastle’s last six matches due to an ankle injury. Although he was initially able to play through the problem, it has become more serious and has had to see a specialist. The club are currently trying to get to the bottom of the issue internally.

Expected return date: TBC
