Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a mutual termination of record signing Tanguy Ndombele’s contract.
Spurs paid a reported £55million to Lyon for Ndombele back in 2019 but the midfielder failed to live up to the price tag as he scored 10 goals in 91 appearances before a series of loan spells in recent seasons. The 27-year-old spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Galatasaray in Turkey having previously been loaned out to Napoli and back to Lyon.

“The Club can confirm the departure of Tanguy Ndombele following the mutual termination of his contract, effective from 30 June, upon the conclusion of his current loan spell,” the statement read. Newcastle are in the market for free agents this summer having agreed a deal with Lloyd Kelly and offering a contract to Tosin Adarabioyo prior to his move to Chelsea. The Magpies have previously been credited with an interest in Ndombele back in the summer of 2022.
Reports from France at the time described Newcastle as being in ‘pole position’ to sign the midfielder before he eventually joined Napoli on loan. Ndombele’s last Premier League goal came in a 3-2 win for Spurs at St James’ Park shortly after Newcastle’s takeover in 2021.
