‘Unlike anybody’ - Newcastle great Shearer compared to Haaland
Erling Haaland will hope to chase down Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.
Shaka Hislop feels that nobody will ever compare to Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer, even if Erling Haaland eventually breaks his Premier League goalscoring record.
Shearer scored 260 Premier League goals throughout his career, a number that still leads the way by 47 over Harry Kane's 213.
Hislop insists that during Shearer's career, the league wasn't kind to strikers and that attacking players had a much tougher time.

The former Newcastle keeper also believes that Shearer was a better finisher than Thierry Henry and Mo Salah. Still, he acknowledges that Haaland is destined to surpass the England great's PL record if he stays at Man City for years to come.
"I think Haaland will break it if he stays at Manchester City, just because of the numbers he's putting up, which are simply ridiculous! They really are ridiculous," Hislop told Shields Gazette, thanks to Ivy Casino, which provides odds on the Tyne Tunnel toll payment and much more.
"I think he's as close to a complete striker as we've seen for quite some time. This league has seen some incredible goalscorers, incredible finishers, whether we're talking Mo Salah or Thierry Henry – but Alan Shearer, having played with him, was unlike anybody I've seen just in terms of pure finishing. He could do it with either foot, with his head, his physicality.
"I think that, while Alan’s record will one day be broken, I think the league now is far kinder to attacking players than it was back then. I don't mean that to downplay what Erling Haaland is doing; I mean more to show how complete Alan was in the face of a very aggressive game. He was still able to put up numbers that still stand today."
