A proposed £300million takeover of Newcastle United, funded by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, has been with the Premier League since April.

And fans are impatient for a decision given the potential implications for a club which has only had one season in Europe under Mike Ashley’s ownership.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s behind-closed-doors home game against Aston Villa, head coach Bruce said: “If I’m being brutally honest, I’m not really interested in that. I’ll hear something when you guys do. Whatever’s best for the club is OK with me. My job is to make sure we’re focused on one thing – finishing the season off. Can we finish in the top 10? That would be a wonderful achievement.”

Newcastle are 13th in the table, and two points behind 10th-placed Arsenal with eight games left to play.
