Yoane Wissa sends heartfelt Newcastle United message after win v Manchester City
Newcastle United forward Yoane Wissa was involved in the post-match celebrations at St James’ Park following the win over Manchester City.
Yoane Wissa watched on from the stands at St James’ Park as Newcastle United beat Manchester City 2-1 in the Premier League.

The £55million summer signing is yet to make his debut for Newcastle due to a knee injury but is understood to be nearing a return to action despite no clear date as to when that will be.
Providing an update on Wissa’s injury ahead of the Man City match, United head coach Eddie Howe said: “He's not back training with us yet but he's close. He's close to training with us but before he gets to there it's difficult to give you a return date."
Wissa was one of several unavailable players spotted at St James’ Park during the win over City as Harvey Barnes’ brace helped The Magpies to a much-needed win.
Wissa, William Osula, Kieran Trippier, Emil Krafth and Dan Burn were among those spotted at the game. Wissa also got involved in the post-match dressing room celebrations.

Yoane Wissa takes to Instagram after NUFC win
Following the win, Wissa took to Instagram to post an image from the stands with the caption: “I love you @NUFC.”
The 29-year-old is not expected to be back for Newcastle at least until early December, ruling him out for the upcoming matches against Marseille in the Champions League and the Premier League trip to Everton on Saturday.
Howe previously explained Wissa would undergo a ‘six-week’ pre-season period once he returns to full training, which he is yet to do.
Wissa’s PCL injury now risks him missing the upcoming African Cup of Nations with DR Congo next month.

AFCON deadline coming up
The African Cup of Nations gets underway in Morocco on December 21, but the deadline for squads to be submitted for the tournament in December 11.
Given Wissa is still yet to train with Newcastle full and is recovering from a serious knee injury having not played any football at club level in six months, the chances of him being fully fit and available for selection in time for the AFCON squad deadline are slim.
DR Congo may still wish to call up the player in the hope he get up to speed as a tournament progresses but that would come as a huge risk for all concerned. AFCON runs from December 21 to January 18, which would rule Wissa out for a minimum of four Newcastle United matches and a maximum of eight if he were to go away.
