Newcastle United's new predicted final Premier League position after dismal Bournemouth defeat
Newcastle United are sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table following their home defeat against Bournemouth.
Newcastle United’s dismal form continued with a home defeat against Bournemouth as further pressure was placed on manager Eddie Howe.
The Magpies boss went into the game looking for a reaction from his players after they suffered successive defeats against Sunderland and Crystal Palace - but it was the Cherries that came out on top as Howe’s poor record against his former employers was extended by a 2-1 loss at St James Park. United looked to have secured a share of the points when Will Osula’s second-half equaliser cancelled out a first-half opener from Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier - but the visitors restored their lead when Adrien Truffert found the net from close range with just five minutes remaining.
That was enough to ensure Bournemouth have now won two and drawn two of their last four Premier League fixtures on Tyneside and boosted their own hopes of qualifying for Europe. For Newcastle, thoughts of pushing for the Europa Conference League or Europa League now appear all but dashed and their focus will be on finding some positivity in the final weeks of what has been a challenging season on Tyneside. But where are the Magpies predicted to finish in this season’s Premier League? We take a look at the latest predicted final table put together by the stats experts at Opta.
