Northern League: In-form Boldon CA issued stern warning ahead of Darlington Town visit

Boldon CA will hope to round off an impressive week with a win at Northern League Division Two rivals Darlington Town on Saturday.

Chris Spence has challenged in-form Boldon CA to turn the course of history as they prepare to visit Northern League Division Two rivals Darlington Town on Saturday afternoon.

After setting up their FA Vase first round home tie with local rivals Jarrow with a win at Campion last Sunday afternoon, Boldon return to their league campaign with a tough-looking trip to Darlington this weekend as they face a home side that have inflicted a number of defeats on them in recent seasons.

However, there is an understandable confidence within the Boldon setup after their Vase win in Yorkshire ensured they are now unbeaten in 13 league and Vase games during the opening two months of the season.

Joint-manager Spence admitted that confidence means they will travel to Eastbourne Sports Complex looking to move on from the poor run of results they have suffered at the same venue - but also warned his players of the task they will face on Saturday afternoon.

He told The Gazette: “Darlington Town away is never an easy place to go. They’re very good on that 3G pitch and, in the past, we’ve been on the receiving end of some bad results down there. But with the quality and confidence running through this team at the minute, we’ll be looking to hopefully go down there and bring the points back home.”

Spence and fellow joint-manager Keaton Trott will assess their options before deciding whether to retain faith with the side that racked up their impressive FA Vase win last weekend.
