A Beatles fanatic will host regular jam sessions celebrating the band’s music in South Marine Park’s bandstand.

Doug Payne and a group of musicians and vocalists are encouraging members of the public to join their friendly and informal jams.

The first will be held on Sunday, September 20 between 3pm and 5pm and all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.

Inspired by videos he had seen of similar musicians in Central Park in New York City, Doug aims to have one event every month.

He said: “It will be a running event and we will be putting on approximately 6 shows during the summer periods every year.

“It should be great fun and once established we anticipate giving donated instruments to the public to encourage learning and community participation.”

The set list for Sunday’s session features classics like ‘Help’, ‘Hey Jude’, ‘I saw her standing there’ and ‘Love Me Do’.
