South Shields Parkrun hosts spooky 'Witches Parkrun' on Halloween

The free event is open to all and encourages participants to don their best Halloween costumes as they take part in the 5km run along the Leas and the final mile of the Great North Run.

South Shields Parkrun will host a spooky special run to mark Halloween with runners encouraged to don their finest costumes.

Each Saturday at 9am, runners take part in the 5km Parkrun on the beach outside of Colmans Temple on Sea Road.

The run heads along the Leas and covers the last mile of the famous Great North Run before finishing at The Bamburgh pub on the Coast Road.

This year Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31, and organisers are encouraging residents and runners in South Tyneside to take part in a ‘Witches Parkrun’.

Anybody interested can meet for the event briefing at 8:45am on the day near Colmans Temple.

The run is completely free to take part in and is a community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.

It is described on the Parkrun website as “positive, welcoming and inclusive” with no time limit.
