New parking rules come into force at a popular South Tyneside pub
There are new parking rules behind a popular East Boldon pub.
Motorists using the car park to the rear of the Grey Horse pub in East Boldon should be aware that it is now under the control of Euro Car Parks and that the system is now live.
The car park had previously been entirely free to use, but the Gazette understands that the move is to counter previous abuse, with some vehicles being left there for months - sometimes untaxed.

The change is not likely to raise much from parking revenue as the new rules are as follows:
There is 30 minutes free parking for everyone, but this is not cumulative and with any number of return visits allowed. This should suit parents dropping off children in the morning, then picking them up again on the afternoon at the nearby East Boldon Junior School.
Any guest of the popular Grey Horse or the hut used by the East Boldon Scout Group, which is behind the pub, or the Boldon Auction Galleries, which are next door, must enter their vehicle registration at one of the tablet consoles to get free parking for up to 24 hours.
Otherwise, the Euro Car Parks website says there is a one pound per hour charge to park in one of the 48 bays, plus a 20p “convenience fee”. The apps required for parking payment are RingGo, PaybyPhone and ECPparkbuddy.
Vehicle owners are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure they ensure their registration to avoid a fine. Advance booking is possible through the Euro Car Parks website.
