Darlington, Cumbria and Leeds rehoming centres are hoping to find lovely homes for their dogs in order to give them the best possible lives.
Here are just 13 of the dogs searching for a forever home this Spring.

9. Penelope (Irish Water Spaniel, five years)
Penelope is looking for a family who can keep her company throughout the day and settle her into her new pad. Any time alone can be built up gradually after this. If any children in the home, they should be secondary school age. She’d love her home to have a garden for playtimes. She lacks confidence around other dogs so will need to be the only pooch in the home. This way she can enjoy her own space whilst working on her doggy social skills outside of the home. Our Training Team will chat through on how to successfully go about this. Penelope would benefit from meeting her family a couple of times before heading home. Photo: Dogs Trust Darlington
Leela is a three-year-old Patterdale who is looking for a home with her best buddy Stitch who is a two-year-old Labrador x Husky. They are in a loving home together and are looking for a new forever home due to a change in circumstances. They are both house trained, walk nicely although Stitch can be strong at times and both travel well. Leela and Stitch adore playing together in the garden. Stitch loves playing fetch whilst Leela explores the bushes and sniffs along the walk. They have been well socialised and been brought up with children and cats. Photo: Dogs Trust Cumbria
We think Lydia would like a quieter home with a secure garden, where she can relax and enjoy her new life. She also enjoys the company of other calm, friendly dogs and we believe could live with or without a canine companion comfortably. Any children living in the home would need to be patient and respectful and around secondary school age, as we think this would be her preference. Photo: Dogs Trust Cumbria
12. Elfie (Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois), 6-12 months)
Elfie is a young, energetic lad ready to find his forever home with a family who can keep up with him. He’ll enjoy fun adventures and activities. Elfie is going to need his basic obedience skills brushing up and will benefit from keeping his mind active learning new skills. We have no previous home history of Elfie, so he’ll need someone at home to help him settle in, introduce any time alone gradually and work on house training. He can live with another dog in the home and with primary school aged children. Elfie will need his family to bring him back to the centre for hydrotherapy appointments which he enjoys attending to help him with his hips. Photo: Dogs Trust Darlington
