Help offered in South Tyneside for those who struggle in the digital age

‘We’re encouraging everyone to raise awareness of digital exclusion and help make sure no one is left behind.’

Help is at hand for those who might struggle with digital skills, which are becoming increasingly important.

Get Online Week runs until October 25 and is led by the Good Things Foundation, which aims to “help fix the digital divide”.

This year’s campaign theme is “Can’t get online, can’t get by” and it highlights how essential digital access, skills and confidence have become in everyday life.

For millions of people nationwide, everyday online tasks still present a major barrier. Only one in three UK adults feels comfortable using the internet.

If you or someone you know needs help with digital services, connectivity or skills, support is available at southtyneside.gov.uk/digitaldirectory.

South Tyneside Council said: “Whether it’s sending an email, booking a GP appointment or accessing support services, being online can make life easier.

“This week, we’re encouraging everyone to raise awareness of digital exclusion and help make sure no one is left behind.”
