The Roofers have now lost their last two fixtures – against Shildon AFC and Morpeth Town – but these defeats came against two of the best sides in the league and McLoughlin’s men will look to get back on track this evening.

Last time out an injury-hit side went down 3-1 to Northern League champions-elect Shildon, but despite the result there were positives to be taken from the overall performance.

Roofing took the lead in that game thanks to a goal from Paul Chow, but a Shildon strike before half time and two after the break secured the win for the league leaders.

But McLoughlin believes that his side played well as a whole and were the architects of their own downfall by committing avoidable errors.

“It was a well worked goal form us against Shildon and overall we didn’t play too badly,” he said, speaking ahead of the RCA clash.

“But daft goals cost us and it was three silly mistakes that lost us the game in the end.

“We have to cut out the mistakes, just as I said a lot earlier in the season.”

Meanwhile, tonight’s opponents are also struggling to find league form.

Their last three outings have ended in defeat, including a 6-1 reverse against Newcastle Benfield as well as a 3-2 loss to bottom of the table Norton & Stockton Ancients.

McLoughlin is under no illusions as to the mindset his team require to take something from Meadow Park: “Their hard work both on and off the ball means we have to be up for the game, anything else is no good.”

Both sides are in desperate need of a win to turn around poor form and with Roofing suffering from a small injury crisis, McLoughlin realises that his team will have to be on top form to get a result.

“We need players back from injury to make a proper impact on games,” he continued.

“But with four out against RCA we need to be on the mark no matter what team we put out.

“RCA are a good side and we need to give ourselves a chance in order to match their work rate.”

The Roofers have a number of injury problems to contend with ahead of tonight’s clash, with Alex, White, Liam Atkin and Anth Myers all doubts. Kerry Hedley and Jamie Marshall are out injured, while Corey Barnes and Josh Allan are unavailable for selection.

Kick off is at 7.30pm at Meadow Park
