South Shields supports Chris Ramsey as his Strictly Come Dancing dream comes to an end

Shields Gazette readers have rallied in support and shared kind messages for South Shields comedian Chris Ramsey as he leaves BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Viewers watched Chris, 33, and his dance partner Karen Hauer, 37 leave the competition in the semi-final on Sunday, December 8.

They lost out on the Glitterball Trophy following a dance-off with Zeroual and Amy Dowden after performing twice in a bid to get to the final.

Since then, Shields Gazette readers have been keen to share their support.

Deborah Anne Swan said: “Actually shedding tears at Strictly. Gutted Chris is out but by god what a joy he’s been to watch. How far he’s come on. Absolutely brilliant and he is my winner. Very proud Sanddancer here. Very proud town.”

Alix Nicholson added: “An absolute gent who is the epitome of what the programme should be about. He had genuinely never danced before and made it to the semi-final. What an absolute trooper he was.”

Sylvia Besnard commented: “It has been great to see him improve every week. Huge congratulations on reaching semi-finals and enjoy more time with family.”

EastEnders actress Emma Barton, 42, CBBC star Karim Zeroual, 26, and ex-Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher, 35, will now battle it out in the final on Saturday, December 14, at 7:05pm.
