Police called to two multi-vehicle crashes on A1 during rush hour

Emergency services were called to two crashes on the A1 on Wednesday, January 15.

Shortly before 8am officers attended junction 63, for Chester-le-Street, following reports of a four-vehicle collision southbound.

One lane was blocked, with motorists experiencing delays.

Police also attended a three-vehicle crash northbound, near junction 65 for the A194M to junction 66 for the Angel Of The North.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Nobody was seriously injured but one lane was temporarily blocked. Traffic continues to flow as normal in the area."
