Public invited to enjoy the views from Souter Lighthouse for free - this is when

Heritage Open Days is allowing members of the public to tour one of South Tyneside’s most photographed landmarks for free.

Members of the public who are wishing to avoid the crowds can visit Souter Lighthouse on Tuesday, September 15.

During their visit, there will be a chance to do the following:

• Climb 76 steps to the top, see how the lighthouse works and take in the views.
• Explore the engine room and exhibition space to learn more about Souter Lighthouse’s history.
• Either bring a picnic or enjoy food at the lighthouse’s café.
• Enjoy a coastal walk along the cliffs of The Leas.
