Meet the 16 year old opening her own dog grooming salon in South Shields
Evie Morris, 16, is set to open her own dog grooming salon, Paw Palace, in South Shields by the end of the year.
A business savvy teenager from South Shields is set to open her very own dog grooming salon in the town by the end of this year.
Evie Morris, 16, has always loved animals and will soon fulfil her dream of pampering pooches fulltime.
She is currently completing a dog grooming, dental and animal first aid course at The Dog Barber in Hebburn.
There she spends two days a week learning the craft and at the end of the 30 day course, she will come away with a diploma that qualifies her to work in her own salon.

She hopes to open her salon Paw Palace, located on Fullwell Avenue, Marsden, at the start of December after her course has been completed.
“I’ve always loved animals”
Evie said: “It was tough at the start but now it’s getting easier
“I’ve always loved animals, so I thought I might as well go into dog grooming and then I’m always with them.
“I’m shocked I was able to get a course this early but I’m happy that I’ve managed to do it.

“I’m really excited to open up.”
Underestimated because of her age
When asked about whether people may underestimate her because of her young age, Evie said: “Considering I am a bit younger, it means I’ll have more energy to put into dogs compared to other groomers because they would have been doing it for longer.
Evie’s parents, Mark Morris, 48, and Stephanie Morris, 46, run a doggy daycare and home stay business.
They say Evie has helped them out with the daycare and looking after the pups since the age of 11.

Proud parents
Proud dad-of-one Mark has been helping out with the salon renovations and decorating the space.
He said: “I’m absolutely over the moon that she’s actually 16 and she said it still hasn’t sunk in yet that she’s just 16 and going to have her own business, her own premises.
“All the kids out there don’t want to work. They just want to leave school and play their computer games and things like that.”
Evie and Mark said once Paw Palace is open customers can book to visit through social media.
