'The club I love' - Newcastle United target makes transfer admission after Champions League goal

The latest transfer talk from Newcastle United as a reported Magpies target opens up on his future.

A reported Newcastle United transfer target has opened up on his future with his current club as thoughts turn towards the January transfer window.

The Magpies experienced a hectic summer transfer window with key players such as Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon all departing and a whole host of young players arriving to take their place.

The likes of Bazoumana Toure, Lukas Hornicek and Amar Dedic were all secured ahead of Matthias Jaissle’s first season in charge at St James Park and fortunes have been mixed at best during the opening two months of the campaign.

There have been suggestions Newcastle still have work to do in the transfer market during the January transfer window with questions asked about Jaissle’s opens in attacking areas and the balance within his midfield. However, there is also a need to strengthen at left-back as England international Lewis Hall continues to act as United’s only natural option in that area.

One left-back that has been linked with a move to Tyneside in recent months is Club Brugge star Joaquin Seys and United’s recruitment staff are believed to have watched the eight-times capped Belgium international on several occasions during that time. However, Premier League rivals Manchester United and Aston Villa have also been linked with the 21-year-old and there is an expectation he will make a move away from Brugge over the next 12 months as he continues to impress with the 20-times Belgian champions.

Seys was asked about interest from elsewhere after scoring in his side’s Champions League win against Lens in midweek - and he gave a clear insight into his mindset at this point in time.

When asked if he was thinking about a move away from Brugge, Seys told Voetbal Nieuws: “Honestly, I'm not doing that much yet. This is the club I love, so it's very nice that I've been able to play so many games here already. This is the club of my heart, so I would give anything for them. I'm now focusing entirely on Club Brugge and then we'll see what happens."
