South Tyneside Council has warned small businesses to prepare for ‘Simpler Recycling’ now that the rules around waste are changing.

The Simpler Recycling legislation means businesses must separate recyclable materials, food waste and general waste before collection.

Smaller businesses, with fewer than 10 full-time equivalent employees, have until 31 March 2027 to comply.

To make sure your business has the right collections for recycling, food waste and general waste, to get ahead of the changes, you can speak with South Tyneside Council’s trade waste team.
