Large police presence in East Boldon street following collision involving van and a moped

Emergency services were called to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a van and a moped in Tile Shed Lane, East Boldon, near the railway crossing.

Six police vehicles were parked in the street at around 5.25pm on Tusday, April 13 but the single carriageway remained opened to passing traffic.

Northumbria Police has confirmed that no one was injured in the collision.

Footage taken of the scene shows three vehicles parked on each side of the road along Tile Shed Lane shortly before reaching the Tyne and Wear Metro line crossing. It is not known how long police remained at the scene.

A force spokesperson said: “At 5.25pm yesterday (Tuesday) we received a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a van and a moped on Tile Shed Lane, East Boldon.

“Thankfully nobody was injured.”
