Hebburn Town FC urged to learn from Radcliffe loss as Hednesford Town lie in wait

Hebburn Town will hope to return to winning ways when they host National League North rivals Hednesford Town on Saturday.

Daniel Moore has insisted Hebburn Town FC will learn from their heavy defeat at Radcliffe as they prepare to entertain former Northern Premier League title rivals Hednesford Town at the Trustmark Group Stadium.

The Hornets suffered only their second defeat of the National League North season when they fell to a 5-1 loss at the Neuven Stadium in midweek - and that has left them looking to bounce back when they return to their home patch this weekend.

Despite their own lofty ambitions, the Pitman will arrive on South Tyneside on the back of winning just two of their first eight games of the campaign - but they did claim one of those victories last time out as they earned a win by the odd goal in five at King’s Lynn Town on Tuesday night.

Moore’s focus will remain on his own players following their difficult midweek trip to the North West - and the Hornets boss has stressed his determination to look after his squad physically and mentally as they look to return to winning ways.

He told the club website: “We just have to learn from it. We are a young team and lads have probably had their eyes opened, not just the lads but maybe some of the supporters and people around the club. We can’t just keep going on the trajectory we’ve been doing, winning every week, we’ve got no given right so maybe, it’s a bit of a reality check of where we are at, how we are doing and we are still joint sixth and in the play-offs or whatever it is.

“If someone had offered me that in May last year when we got promoted, I would have snapped their hands off so we will just crack on to the next game. We will recover the lads that have played Saturday, Tuesday. It’s about managing the players physically and mentally, we will look after them.”

Meanwhile, the Hornets now know they will host Guiseley in the FA Cup second qualifying round on Saturday week after they came through a replay against Stockton Town on Tuesday night.
