'1980s football in the 21st century' – 'Disgraceful' Newcastle United slammed by our Magpies fan panel
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
While it was only 3-0 to the Seagulls on the scoreboard, the gulf in class between the sides, on the day at least, was frightening. And it did not go down well with our United fan trio...

"That was painful wasn’t it? A really poor performance (and how many times have we heard that recently?) and NUFC have come crashing back down to reality. This season will be long, hard and gruelling ... yet again.

“There are worrying signs. We lacked a game plan from the minute go. It’s frustrating to see Lascelles and Fernandez lamping balls 40 yards and giving away possession throughout the whole game.
"Brighton utilised each and every player to their benefit with each transition of play. NUFC haven’t moved with the times. Football has become fluent from GK to ST and Brighton displayed that today.
"We’re frozen in a time where defence, midfield and forwards are separate entities who can’t cross-over. We’re set up to play 1980s football in a 21st century.”

“I’m no expert, but I know Newcastle United were so far off the pace with little to no hunger. It was appalling to see.

“That was a truly disastrous performance after all that good momentum created last week. Sadly, we’re back to playing like last season’s Newcastle.
“We didn’t have a plan B at all. The players didn’t sort it out on the pitch and Bruce had no idea how to combat their possession play. Other side of the coin from last week.
“Totally outclassed, outwitted & outworked. Bruce has to take responsibility but that was all about the players not showing up for the shirt.”
