'No doubt' - Dan Burn goes public on Newcastle United's summer transfer business
Newcastle United captain Dan Burn has backed the club’s summer signings to become “great players”.
Dan Burn has “no doubt” that Newcastle United’s summer signings will come good.
The Magpies underwent a significant squad rebuild over the summer, selling talismanic trio Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes and bringing in eight new signings, all of whom are aged 24 or younger, for around £270million in total.
Lukas Hornicek, Amar Dedic and Nico Gonzalez have made encouraging starts to life at St James’ Park, while Sean Steur has also impressed, despite seeing limited gametime since returning from the last international break.

However, there are current question marks over Bazoumana Toure, Aladji Bamba and Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
Toure and Bamba are yet to start a Premier League match, and although Fernandez-Pardo had been featuring regularly before suffering from illness in the past fortnight, there is a debate over what is he best position as he awaits his first Magpies goal.

But Newcastle captain Burn has urged patience when it comes to Newcastle’s younger crop, insisting they will be “great players” for the club in the future.
“When you move to a new country, a new league, away from your family, it takes time to adapt,” Burn said. “We're playing at a Premier League level where maybe you don't have that time but that's the reality.
“It's 18, 19, 20-year-old-kids, you can't expect them just to jump in and go. It's about us supporting them.
“As the weeks go by, we're getting more and more from them. The manager has said himself that a lot of the lads aren't finished articles but you see glimpses of them and it's just about being able to do that on a consistent level.
“That takes time but I have no doubt we've signed some very good players and they will be great players for Newcastle.”
Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle has relied heavily on his more experienced players in recent weeks, with Burn among those to be recalled to the starting line-up.
Burn has partnered fellow 34-year-old Fabian Schar at centre-back in the last two games, while Joelinton, Jacob Murphy and Joe Willock, who, alongside Schar, were here pre-takeover in October 2021, have also featured in the team.
