South Tyneside residents invited to shape the future of home care and support

Residents across South Tyneside are invited to have their say on the future of care and support in people’s own homes.

South Tyneside Council is inviting residents to help shape how care and support in people’s own homes should look in the future.

The local authority is reviewing its care and support at home services and wants to hear what matters most to the people who use the services.

The Council is also seeking the views of their families, carers and the organisations involved in providing support.

As a result, an online survey is now giving people the chance to share their views.

The survey is asking what would help people feel confident about receiving support at home, what independence means to them, and how care could make the best use of face-to-face support, technology and equipment.

Members of the public can also have their say on how services should respond when someone's needs change, and how people can have greater choice and control over the support they receive.

Councillor Andy Heywood, Lead Member for Adults, Health and Independence at South Tyneside Council, said: “Support at home can make a huge difference to people’s lives, helping them stay independent and continue doing the things that matter to them.

“We want the people who may use these services, as well as families and carers, to have a real say in what future support looks like.

“I’d encourage people to take a few minutes to complete the survey and tell us what matters to them.”

The survey on home care and support is open until Monday, November 30 - you can have your say by clicking here.
