Whether it was on a permanent transfer, loan deal or expiring contract, around 20 players exited St James’s Park ahead of Steve Bruce’s second season in charge.
The likes of Danny Rose, Valentino Lazaro and Nabil Bentaleb returned to their parent clubs, while some of United’s upcoming talent secured loan moves in the Football League.

9. Tom Allan
Allan, who made his first-team debut in the FA Cup last year, joined Accrington Stanley on a season-long loan but was swiftly recalled by Newcastle in January after appearing just four times for the League One outfit. Photo: Ian MacNicol
