Matthias Jaissle gives honest opinion on Ross Wilson after Newcastle United transfer window

Newcastle United spent £131million in the closing stages of the summer window to give Matthias Jaissle the tools for a successful season.

Matthias Jaissle has commended Ross Wilson for giving him the tools to succeed at Newcastle United.

Three weeks ago, the Magpies looked desperately short to tackle a Premier League campaign. Amar Dedic, Nico Gonzalez and Matias Fernandez-Pardo swiftly arrived to transform the mood around St James’ Park.

Coupled with the training ground announcement and strong start to the season, the feel-good factor has certainly returned to Newcastle. Sporting director Wilson - and CEO David Hopkinson - have soaked up in praise in recent days.

A win over Bournemouth this weekend would continue the black-and-white bounce while providing a clearer gauge on where this United squad are at. Newcastle failed to beat the Cherries in the Premier League during Eddie Howe’s reign - a run stretching seven matches.

“Not only Ross and myself, it starts from the CEO and we can go through the whole management. This is something special, and I think this is also something important, that we showed the unity there, so you can also see unity on the pitch.”

Matthias Jaissle swerves rating question

However, Jaissle wold not be drawn on rating Newcastle’s summer window out of 10. He added: “I will not rate, but I'm happy. Like I said, great job from Ross and his team. Really a clear idea with all the signings.

“A young squad in general, young signings with huge potential. That's a brave way. This is the way we want to go here in Newcastle, and therefore we're fully committed and excited now to work with the lads.”
