Newcastle United transfer news: AC Milan frontman latest as Portuguese midfielder and Sampdoria defender linked
Newcastle United have been linked with a move for a trio of European talents as Steve Bruce looks to strengthen his lot in the January transfer window.
AC Milan forward Krzysztof Piatek is understood to be a player who is interesting Steve Bruce and Magpies’ transfer talent spotters.
The 24-year-old Poland international has been a part of the Serie A side’s first-team picture this season, but the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic this month will see Piatek potentially drop down the pecking order at the San Siro.
And while Piatek, who has four goals in 17 appearances for the Rossoneri this season, was only bought from Genoa in a deal worth around £35million just 12 months ago, he could be allowed to leave.
Milan are thought to favour a permanent switch, with United keen to strike a loan deal with an option to buy at a set fee.
This month the Magpies have already been linked with moves for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Glenn Murray, Everton's Cenk Tosun as well as a loan switch for Chelsea duo Oliver Giroud and Michy Batshuayi.
Meanwhile, a report in Portuguese publication O Jogo states Newcastle United have been watching Braga midfielder Francisco Trincão.
And while not naming United, the report also states the Portuguese outfit have already rejected an €11million bid for the player this month.
The 20-year-old is understood to have a €30m release clause in his contract at the Braga Municipal Stadium.
O Jogo also claim the Magpies had Trincão watched in Braga’s 7-1 win over Belenenses at the weekend.
Elsewhere on the transfer front, another player said to be interesting United is Sampdoria defender Omar Colley.
Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claim United have watched the Gambia international "several times" and like what they have seen.
The 27-year-old has been a regular under Sampdoria boss Claudio Ranieri this season and it is thought the club would be looking to recoup considerably more than the £6million fee they paid for the player in 2018.
