Diabate joined Newcastle from Genclerbirligi in a deal understood to be worth around £2.9million which would see the one-time Guinea international remain at the Ankara club on loan for the season.

He is set to join up with Newcastle next year, when a decision will be made on the next steps in his career.

And according to his representative, Batu Kaplan, Diabate is a young player who deserves the opportunity to shine in the Premier League.

Kaplan, who also represents Newcastle academy midfielder Baran Yildiz, took to Instagram this week to post a photo of himself and Diabate holding a Newcastle shirt at St James’ Park.

It was accompanied by the caption: “You truly deserve to be in the Premier League, both for your footballing ability and your character. Welcome to the Newcastle, welcome to the Premier League my brother. The best is yet to come! Think big, play big.”

Diabate wants to make NUFC ‘proud’

Upon signing for the Magpies, Diabate said: “From the moment Newcastle showed interest, I knew it was the kind of ambitious club I wanted to be part of.

“The project here is exciting, and the supporters have an incredible reputation. Feeling that energy behind me is something I’m really looking forward to.

“I always tried to approach every match with total commitment, working hard, giving everything, and pushing myself to improve.

“My aim is to grow as a player and show people what I can bring to the team. I want to help Newcastle compete at the highest level and achieving things that make the club and supporters proud.”

Diabate’s move to Newcastle was initially confirmed by the Premier League, who named the teenager on the club’s official under-21s squad list earlier this month. The move has since been formally announced by the club.
