Defenders Fernandez and Manquillo, like midfielder Matty Longstaff, are out of contract at the end of the season.

And head coach Steve Bruce, speaking ahead of Sunday’s game against Arsenal, says there will be “conversations” with Fernandez and Manquillo now the transfer window has closed.

“All of those things will now start to run now the transfer window has ended,” said Bruce, who said new deals would be offered to a number of players after joining the club last summer. “These last two, three, four months, (there are) conversations to be had. Fed is another one who has played very, very well for me, so has Manquillo. They’re both (out of contract), and conversations will be had.”

Meanwhile, talks with Longstaff’s representatives over a new deal for the 19-year-old have hit an “impasse”, according to Bruce.
