Northern League: Jarrow boss won't settle for a draw at leaders Billingham Town
There is a key clash in the race for promotion into the Northern League’s top tier at Bedford Terrace on Saturday.
Jarrow manager Kennie Malia has insisted his side will not settle for a point when they visit Northern League Division Two leaders Billingham Town on Saturday afternoon.
The Perth Green outfit extended their unbeaten run to 18 league games when they eased to a 4-0 home win against FC Hartlepool last weekend and they have firmly established themselves as a key contender for top spot. However, despite that run, Malia’s men still lie two points adrift of the current frontrunners in the race for promotion into the league’s top tier.

As it stands ahead of the weekend, Saturday’s hosts have won all eight of their home league games during the first two and half months of the season - but Malia has insisted his players will be aiming to become the first visiting side to land all three points from a visit to Bedford Terrace.
He told The Gazette: “I think it’s our biggest test yet and when you see a team flying at the top of the table, with no disrespect to the other teams we have played, when you play the team at the top you know it’s the biggest test. But we won’t be going there looking for a draw. If we have that mindset looking for a point, sometimes that bites you. That’s never been our way. We will go there looking to win the game because that’s what has taken us this far.”
