Lee Johnson’s side defeated Tranmere Rovers in the final of the Papa John’s Trophy ending a 47 year and 10 months Wembley losing streak in the process.

But Sunderland will now turn their attentions back towards League One.

Indeed, Johnson’s men are just two points adrift of the automatic promotion placed but with 13 games still left to play.

And there is no rest for the wicked with Sunderland set to travel to the Wham Stadium to face Accrington Stanley on Wednesday.

Luke O’Nien and Grant Leadbitter however, remain aware of their important task of winning promotion to the Championship following Sunday’s Papa John’s Trophy final victory.

Speaking on Instagram, Leadbitter said: “Good Morning Sunderland. Great day for the football club. Quickly move onto Wednesday.”
