'The best team in the division' - Pundit delivers strong verdict on Sunderland following win against Bristol Rovers

Former player turned pundit Adrian Clarke has shared his thoughts on Sunderland and Lee Johnson.

Sunderland defeated Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium last weekend.

The result meant the Black Cats are now unbeaten in their last 12 in all competitions and have only suffered one loss in 18.

That leaves Sunderland third in League One and with automatic promotion in their own hands.

Lee Johnson, head coach of Sunderland, looks on prior to the Sky Bet League One match between Accrington Stanley and Sunderland.

Lee Johnson has always been a momentum manager,” the former Arsenal and Rotherham United man said to the Totally Football Show: “Just look at his history, he goes on these unbelievable runs and I think it does go the other way at times and you think where’s the next win going to come from.

“But then he seems to turn it around and he’s a very up-and-down coach – history tells you that’s the case with him.

“At the moment, they’re on fire, and they’re probably the best team in the division on current form.”
