The popular butchers has announced it will be extending its home delivery route from next week, to include communities in the areas of Cleadon, East and West Boldon, Wardley and Pelaw.

The family firm launched its home delivery app in January, but up until now it has only been available within South Shields.

Dicksons expanded the service to cover seven days a week in March 2020 as the Government announced lockdown measures as part of efforts to slow the spread of coronavirus,

Residents were encouraged to stay at home and instead use the app to get their favourite products - with the promise of an expansion to other local areas in the near future.

As of Monday, April 27, the company famous for its Saveloy dip will also be increasing its number of delivery slots available to cope with demand.

Products on offer include the ‘legendary’ Saveloy dip kit, which comes with ten Saveloys, one pease pudding, stuffing and bread buns.

Speaking back in March, Managing director, Chris Hayman said: “We are, like many other high street businesses, facing an unexpected and major interruption to normal processes due to the Covid-19 outbreak. This is an unprecedented situation and we are currently working with our staff and wider management team to ensure Dicksons can meet customer needs.

“The delivery service is non-contact, meaning you can request in the app that your driver leaves food on your doorstep. We also request that if anyone knows vulnerable people within their community who may benefit from a food delivery service, please get in touch and we will do our utmost to provide access.”
