The long-running Monkton Leek, Vegetable and Flower Show is set to return for its 163rd year in September.
Dating back to the Victorian era, it is one of the last remaining agricultural club shows in the North East and is still widely supported by the local community today.

The show will be held from Saturday, September 5, until Monday, September 7, in the marquee of The Lord Nelson, on Monkton Lane, in Jarrow.
Organisers have confirmed that the show will be held at the following times:
- Saturday, September 5: 6.30pm until 10pm.
- Sunday, September 6: 12pm until 8pm.
- Monday, September 7: 11am until 2pm.
Nicky Ruddy will be on hand to judge the leeks, while Adrian Read will be in charge of the vegetables.
Les McGough will be judging entries in the floral category.
The show is free to enter and new members are welcome to participant.
