Time is running out to back two South Shields parks for national seaside heritage recognition

There is just a week left to vote for two South Shields parks to be recognised nationally.

Voting to nationally recognise both of South Shields’ iconic Marine Parks is set to close next Tuesday (September 1).

North and South Marine Parks have been shortlisted for recognition by the Seaside Heritage Network to be part of the 2026 Bucket and Spade List.

The Seaside Heritage Network celebrates the unique contribution of the seaside to British life and demonstrates the important of continuing the heritage that it has built.

Both Marine Parks are a treasured part of South Tyneside’s seaside heritage, with many across the borough holding dear memories of both parks.

The parks are competing against some of the country’s historic seaside landmarks - with the winners named among the favourite seaside places and experiences.
