Hebburn Town will 'have a good go' as Moore sets sights on Merthyr Town
Hebburn Town will face National League North rivals Merthyr Town on Saturday afternoon.
Hebburn Town FC will ‘have a good go’ when they look to end a run of five games without a league win in Saturday’s visit to National League North rivals Merthyr Town.
The Hornets have taken three points from their last five games and will make the long trip to Wales looking to rack up their first league victory since they saw off Hednesford Town at the Trustmark Group Stadium just under two months ago. However, they will head to Merthyr on the back of a positive result and performance after Daniel Moore’s men scored eight goals in a Durham Challenge Cup win against Northern League Division Two side Park View in midweek.

The Hornets squad will make the first stage of what will be a 622-mile round trip on Friday afternoon after the club supported Moore and his players by providing them with an overnight stay ahead of the game. The Hornets boss thanked the club hierarchy for their backing and insisted his side can defy the odds once again and return to winning ways at the Loadlok Community Stadium.
He told The Gazette: “We going down on Friday afternoon so we have to say the club have been brilliant in sorting that out for us because it can make a world of difference. It’s miles away isn’t it? But these are the games we want and this is why we want to be in this league.
“Everyone speaks about how good a footballing side they are and I’ve seen them, they are very good and we are going to have to be very hardworking and disciplined off the ball and also make the most of the time we do have it. We will go there not expected to get anything, much like most games this season, but we will go and have a good go and try and get something.”
Moore could consider fielding a two-man forward line after Josh Donaldson and Jake Charles scored five of their side’s eight goals in the midweek cup win. On-loan Leeds United youngster Coban Bird has put himself in contention for his first league start after he impressed in that tie.
